Civil Infrastructure: See How the Whole
Structure Moves

Bridges, buildings, towers and foundations are rarely monitored continuously, even though their dynamic behaviour under operating loads, wind, or seismic events determines the structure's long-term safety. VibraVizja® assesses that dynamics without installing sensors across the entire surface of the asset.

Assessing the dynamic condition of large infrastructure assets traditionally requires deploying multiple sensors at strategic points on the structure — a costly, time-consuming process inherently limited to locations an engineer has judged relevant in advance. The problem is that the most critical location is often not the one anyone expected.

Common Dynamic Phenomena in Civil Infrastructure

Wind Load Response

Tall, slender structures — towers, chimneys, masts — can respond to wind excitation disproportionately to its intensity if the structure's natural frequency sits close to the excitation frequency.

Traffic-Induced Vibration

Bridges and footbridges subject to cyclic road or pedestrian loading can exhibit vibration modes invisible during a standard visual inspection.

Settlement and Foundation Response

Uneven settlement or changes in ground stiffness can shift a structure's entire dynamic characteristics in ways difficult to detect with point measurements.

Seismic Events and Tremors

Assessing how a structure dissipates seismic excitation or mining-induced tremor energy requires understanding its full, spatial dynamic behaviour, not a reading from a single point.

Why Sensor Placement Always Misses Something

Every sensor placement plan is built on an assumption of where the problem is likely to occur. A full-field measurement reverses that logic: instead of guessing where to measure in advance, it records the motion of the entire visible surface of the structure simultaneously.

How VibraVizja® Helps

The high-frequency camera turns every pixel in the frame into an independent virtual sensor, delivering a complete, spatial map of the asset's dynamic behaviour — within minutes, without physical access to most of the structure's surface.

Dynamic Monitoring: Questions

Does the measurement require closing traffic on a bridge or taking the structure out of service?

No. Because the measurement is non-contact and taken from a safe distance, the structure can stay in normal service — in fact, the real load from road or pedestrian traffic during the measurement is itself a source of excitation, letting you assess the structure's behaviour under the conditions it actually operates in.

Do weather conditions affect the measurement?

Strong wind can be the very thing being measured — a structure's response to wind excitation is often exactly what an engineer wants to see. The measurement needs enough light and air clarity for the camera to see the structure's surface clearly — in practice, daylight conditions without heavy rain are sufficient.

Is this a one-off assessment tool, or continuous monitoring over time?

VibraVizja® is a campaign tool — a single, complete measurement at a given point in time, not a permanent, continuous monitoring installation. It works well as a periodic condition assessment or as a complement to an existing inspection programme, providing a full-field picture at whichever points in time it's carried out.

Do you need to climb a tower or chimney to measure its top?

No. The measurement is taken from the ground or another safe, stable vantage point, with a lens chosen for the distance — no physical access to the upper sections of the structure required.
